The training methods of JAR PPL(A) are different from the old National PPL. No more bureaucracy, more simple and
intrisic methods are used, providing the student with a lot of options. Ground School lectures as well as flight operations are conducted
at Dekeleia-Tatoi airport (17Km outside Athens, near Kifisia). Each student pilot arrange flights/ground school according to his/her needs directly with his/her ground/flight instructor.
Flight is just magic...
The new European JAR PPL vs the old National PPL (NPPL)
Anyone who wants to start immediately the PPL training he/she can do it by simply submitting an application to
our club. Flying training and ground training can be conducted simultaneously and very fast! There is no Student Pilot
Licence (it was necessary for the NPPL training and HCAA many times delayed its issuing making students to wait a lot
of time before they fly), theorytical exams are scheduled by the students themselves (there are no exam periods),
exam system is very simple (using PC, result is announced immediately) and in advance time limits are not so strict
as before.

| Intro to Flying Training - Manuals |
Important Notes: Our trainers (who hold JAR, HCAA and FAA licences) can give lectures to english
language too. All books that our school propose to student pilots are in English language (Air Pilot's Manual Series,
Latest Volumes 1-7, Trevor Thom). After completing the syllabus of each lesson every student sit for school exams in order to prove that he or she is capable of passing the
official exam of the certain lesson at the HCAA. If he/she fails (school pass mark<80%), our school can not send him/her
at the official exams. Officially, a pass in a Subject will be awarded to an applicant achieving at least 75% of
the marks allocated to that Subject. Marks shall only be awarded for correct answers.
Getting the PPL - Permissions
In order to obtain JAR PPL a student has to pass the theorytical exams in HCAA Exam Center into 18 months. The student can sit for any individual paper
4 times and the total sittings are 6. If the above mentioned conditions are not satisfied (18 months time limit, 6 times exams, 4 times per course) then
the student has to restart the exams.
The student has to complete also the flying training and pass the final skill test with the HCAA examiner max. 24 months
after the success at the theory exams. After having completed the flying training the candidate has 6 months margin to
pass the skill test.
Holding the JAR PPL Licence you will be able to fly as PIC (Pilot in Command) every single engine piston land light aeroplane
(max. take-off weight<5700Kg) for private (not commercial) purposes in VFR-day (visual) conditions. This licence is
fully recognized in all member States of JAA (Joint Aviation Authorities, Greece is a member of JAA). In advance, you can
extend the rating (IFR, Multi-engine etc.) and to continue to JAR CPL and ATPL licences.
Special Notes - Experience Crediting
The "old" student pilots that didn't manage to complete their training with the old NPPL training system can continue their
training to our school. If they have pass the theorytical knowledge exams at HCAA they have to complete the flying training
and pass the skill test no more that 24 months after the completion of the theory exams, in order to obtain the old National PPL.
In different case, they have to pass the exams at the JAR syllabous theory in order to obtain the JAR PPL (the only experience
crediting has to do only with the flight hours, not with the theory). Holders of pilot licences or equivalent privileges for
helicopters, microlight helicopters, gyroplanes and microlights having fixed wings and moveable aerodynamic control surfaces
acting in all three dimensions, gliders, self-sustaining gliders or self-launching gliders may be credited with 10% of their
total flight time as pilot-in-command in such aircraft up to a maximum of 10 hours towards a PPL. For example, if one has 100h
PIC in gliders, then he/she needs only 35 hours for the PPL(A).
